Cynthia Burke was born in Alice springs and spent her early childhood in Kaltukatjara (Docker River). She attended school in Warakurna and Irrunytju, then later boarded at CAPS Coolgardie and Esperance. Her paintings depict the country around Warakurna and Irrunytju and have a close relationship with its surrounding topography, helping to establish and maintain cultural connections to the landscape. Cynthia is also well known for her Punu (wood carving) artifacts and has a multi-disciplinary approach to her art practice, resulting in highly dynamic artworks and contemporary interpretations of her Tjukurrpa and country.
