Stacia was born in the bush at Wankari near Docker River in the Northern Territory, a significant place for the Kungkarangkalpa tjukurpa (Seven Sister story). Stacia paints her Country and significant landmarks, waterholes and associated stories. Her paintings relate to Minyma Kutjara (Two Sisters) and Kungkarangkalpa, two significant cultural sites close to Irrunytju which are sacred and important places for woman’s business and passing on knowledge. Stacia Lewis is an accomplished tjanpi (grass) weaver and punu (wood) carver. She also creates beautiful hand painted and hot poker tartu (gum nut) bead work.
